Xayn develops Europe's first sovereign legal AI Noxtua with proprietary legal language models
NodeMasters supports legal and compliance departments as well as law firms in digitization
Partnership enables NodeMasters customers to use sensitive data with AI
BERLIN, November 28, 2024 – The AI startup Xayn and the Legal Engineering Specialist NodeMasters cooperate to simplify the use of AI for legal professionals in digital workflows. Xayn develops Europe's first sovereign Legal AI Noxtua, which supports lawyers in a legally compliant and competent manner in legal research as well as in the analysis and drafting of legal documents. The proprietary Noxtua legal language models are trained with legal texts selected and labeled by legal experts. NodeMasters supports legal and compliance departments as well as law firms in integrating the Noxtua offering into their processes. The new cooperation with Xayn allows NodeMasters customers to also automate the processing of highly sensitive data that was previously excluded from AI use for compliance reasons.
Xayn benefits from broader implementation possibilities and additional resources - especially in the area of Legal Engineering. Noxtua customers can use the NodeMasters service to plan and carry out their AI implementation and build their own custom workflows.
The power of AI lies behind the scenes
"The legal industry needs strong and specialized digitization partners for its specific needs. The experts at NodeMasters know the specific needs of legal and compliance departments as well as law firms in implementing AI. That's why we're excited about the cooperation, which will particularly benefit our customers. AI will increasingly permeate the legal market, and those who engage with it now are also well positioned for the future – especially since the legal industry is increasingly affected by the shortage of skilled workers. Lawyers who want to keep up with technological and demographic developments must now find strong partners," explains Dr. Leif-Nissen Lundbæk (Co-Founder & CEO Xayn).
"Equating AI with a chat is a common misconception. The true strength of AI lies behind the scenes. AI can (semi-)automate and simplify partial tasks of a digital workflow on a large scale and at minimal cost. Legal departments and law firms must now take care of how AI can be used most efficiently in their individual workflows and processes. That's what it's all about at the core of AI implementation. As a legal engineering specialist, we are therefore very pleased to be able to work with Xayn. With Noxtua, they have developed the first real Legal AI from Europe that is legally compliant and at the same time also legally competent," emphasizes Steffen Huß (Head of AI, NodeMasters).
Enhanced efficiency through secure AI use
NodeMasters integrates Noxtua into digital workflows in legal and compliance departments or law firms that are tailored to the individual customers and their needs and processes. They work platform-agnostically and also use existing customer technologies such as BRYTER and MS Power Automate. Examples of such digitized workflows are the extraction of relevant data or text passages from contracts or an automated (partial) review of legal documents against clearly defined criteria. Since Noxtua meets the high professional and data protection requirements for attorneys (Section 203 of the German Federal Criminal Code (StGB) and Section 43e of the Federal Code for Lawyers (BRAO)), sensitive data can also be processed in the workflows, uploaded documents, and prompts. This saves time- and labor-intensive anonymization attempts.
Founded out of a research project at the University of Oxford and Imperial College London, Xayn has been characterized by in-depth expertise in the development of highly efficient GDPR-compliant AI solutions since 2017. Germany's largest business law firm CMS brings the legal expertise and additional development experience. The international firm is specialized, among other things, in IT and AI law and develops its own legal tech applications as a pioneer in the legal market to support internal and external processes.
